On the way out of town after our night in Homer, we stopped at the viewpoint to check out the scenery. Did you know that Homer is the halibut fishing capital of the world? Here's proof:
Spoiler alert - in two weeks we're going to see if it really is! |
Check out the view of the mountains over the fog. Homer likes the fog.
As we drove back we made a special stop at something we saw on the way down that almost caused us to drive off the road with excitement. BEE!!
We all took turns pretending to be stung.
I actually look like I enjoy being stung by a bee. Weird.
I wonder if the people who made it actually take this places, or if it's legally required to stay parked along the highway because it's so bee-utiful. (Hey-o! Don't forget to tip your waitress.)
We also stopped to take a picture of the old cabin in Ninilchik.
We also stopped in Cooper Landing to check out Hamilton's Place, but you already saw those pictures.
Even though it was a long drive to do at once, it was a beautiful one. Here's the scenery on the way back right before Portage. I love that I'm surrounded by this pretty much all the time and it never gets old. I'm constantly amazed at how beautiful Alaska is.
So that was our first trip to Homer (together). We'll wrap up the Naylors' visit tomorrow. Have a great weekend everyone!
