While we spent the night in Homer, Ripley stayed at his doggie daycare and boarded for the night. He's boarded there before and he really loves everyone that works there. I'm not so sure he plays very much with the dogs, but he does loooooooooove the people, and they love him which is great.
After we drove home from Homer, I ran to pick him up and he seemed fine - excited to see me, but that's normal. Everyone said he had an okay time at daycare and so we went home and thought nothing of it. When I got home I took him out to pee and found this:
AHHHHHHH!!! So I took him back to daycare and they freaked out and immediately got to checking the surveillance footage and determined that he was bit by a golden retriever(!) sometime in the afternoon. Ripley didn't react at all and he seemed fine. I'm sure he was just laying on that side and pretending nothing happened so nobody would touch it. He does this sometimes when he's not feeling well. Anyway, mom and I got to spend the evening at the emergency vet getting him stitched up, and by now he's pretty much back to normal, except he gets to be extra fashionable:
Better than the cone of shame!
I want to say that his daycare, especially the owner, has been great about this and even though it's clearly not an ideal situation, and we are not exactly happy about the fact that nobody caught this at the time, I don't think it's anything that could have been prevented. Ripley could be bit anytime - at the park or daycare or just walking down the street - that's just what happens when dogs get together.
So this is why Ripley's in a t-shirt for the next couple of posts. He's fine now, I promise!
