Portage and Potter's Marsh

Andy had to work on the 5th, so we embarked on another day trip.  I wanted to take mom and dad to another one of my favorite spots, Portage.  The weather is notoriously bad out there, but it was nice in Anchorage so we risked it.  Thankfully it was nice the whole way out and not rainy when we got there!

It was a little chilly by the lake, I will admit.
Look at Ripley longing to swim.  Poor dog.
The lake was pretty high, I think from all of the recent warm weather.

Glaciers!

We hit up the visitor's center, where mom found a new friend:

I'd only been in there once before, and it was really cool, especially the glass tunnel.

We headed over to the campground area to look at the other glaciers and get a better view of the river:

Ripley enjoyed the walk but would have liked it more if we'd let him swim.  Poor Ripley.

Ripley loves the raised boardwalk at the campground:

Mom is a serious photographer!

On the way back into town, we stopped at Potter's Marsh.  I think dad was secretly wishing we'd drop him off at the rifle range across the street.

We saw a lot of ducks:

And a mama swallow feeding her baby.  Cute!

Another fun day trip! Are you worn out yet?
