We had a quiet day at home. Like last year, Andy and I volunteered to work on Friday so people who were traveling could take the time off. This meant we couldn't go too crazy, but it didn't stop us from eating a big feast, either!
We spent most of the day cooped up inside - it's been C O L D up here lately...and I don't mean cold like how my friends are complaining it's been in the 30s-40s in Oregon. It's COLD. I think the warmest I've seen it since Wednesday was 6 degrees in one part of town. Most everywhere it's hovering around 0 or -5. Even still, we can't keep this one cooped up indefinitely:
Oh did I mention it snowed? It snowed. Winter is officially here. Let's hope it doesn't last until May like last year.
Ripley hates being out when it's really cold, but he adores playing frisbee.
After about 10 tosses, he started standing on three legs - his signal to us that it's time to get inside where it's warm. I think he might do better with a jacket, but he REALLY hates his coat. Time to find a new one maybe?
Eventually, it was time to take the bird out of the oven. MMM.
Yes, we cooked a whole turkey for two people. Yes, we have been eating sandwiches pretty much non stop since Thursday. Yes, we still have a ton of leftovers. I think maybe I'll make a pot pie this week and then the rest will go in the freezer for later. I also saved a lot of the bones to make stock - just call me Martha.
After dinner, we were both in turkey comas. And we just snuggled up to watch movies. The cats took full advantage of Andy being mostly immobile for the night:
Fro is DEFINITELY watching TV in this picture. She does this a lot. |
